In Bacteroides fragilis TAL3636, IS942 is integrated upstream of the metallo-beta-lactamase gene ccrA (Rasmussen and Kovacs, 1991). DNA sequences very similar to IS942 are present within the 5' untranslated region of the Bacteroides fragilis metallo-beta-lactamase cfiA gene (Thompson and Malamy, 1990). IS942 and IS1170 (from Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron BT13 (pIP419)) putative transposases are 76 % identical (426-aa overlap).
