The IR of this IS are not at its termini. In the IS sequence as given 6 nt separate IRl from the left-hand end of the element and 3 nt separate IRr from the right-hand end. ISAzvi2 appears to be missing the nt that could be derived from either end of the element seen in most other IS1111 family members.

The transposase protein is 69% identical to that of ISPa11 and 47% identical to that of IS1111.
