ISRm3 has been found inserted in the middle of ISRm5. ISRm3 is present in 60/61 isolates of Rhizobium meliloti, with a copy number varying between 1 and 11 (Barran et al., 1994). There is also a good correlation between ISRm3-generated hybridization profiles and phage typing.
