Note that Ralstonia eutropha was formerly named Alcaligenes eutrophus. Evidences are presented that the ISAe1 transposition is stimulated or selected for by the growth of bacteria under unfavourable conditions (temperature shift). Transposition events have been deduced from variations of the IS patterns in several strains.
