There are two copies of ISShvi3 encoded in Shewanella violaceae DSS12. Both elements insert 3' to AttC sites. Like other IS91 elements found in Shewanella this element encodes 2 proteins, a site-specific recombinase, phage integrase family and the IS91 family transposase. The transposase in ISShvi3 has 76% identity to the IS91 Tn encoded by ISSde12. The recombinase has 84% identity to the ISSde12 recombinase.
