ISPha1 has been identified by its transposition into entrapment vector pMEC1 (cI-tetA cassette). ISPha1 is 63% (ORF1) aa identical to ISPaes2. As judged from DNA hybridization analysis ISPha1 is present in 6 copies in the genome of P. halophilus JCM 14014. Homologous sequence was also detected by DNA hybridization in P. homiensis DSM 17862.
