ISBce11 is 76% aa similar to IS231Y. ISBce11 was found by screening completely sequenced genomes for sequences homologous to the ISPa12 transposase using BLASTP. Multiple sequence alignments revealed a conserved DDE motif : D(N2)-70-D(N3)-150-E(C1). The sequencing of the Bacillus cereus G9241 chromosome is currently in progress. Accession number : NZ_AAEK00000000.
The transposase upstream sequence harbors a putative passenger gene that shows similarity with NIF3. This protein family contains several NIF3 (NGG1p interacting factor 3) protein homologues. NIF3 interacts with the yeast transcriptional coactivator NGG1p which is part of the ADA complex, the exact function of this interaction is unknown.
