IS4Sa is located 3 kb downstream of an lytB-like gene and 1.4 kb from IS5Sb (Cassier-Chauvat et al., 1996). The IS5Sa copy has been inactivated by the insertion of a mariner-like element that has duplicated 2 bp. Therefore, the proposed IS5Sa is a "reconstructed" element, based these assumptions. However, the exact limits of IS5Sa remain to be confirmed. IS5Sa putative transposase is 26 % identical to that of IS5377 from Bacillus stearothermophilus (in a 301-aa overlap).
