Insertion (or precise excision) of IS492 into (from) the eps gene of Pseudomonas atlantica, regulates (on/off ) its extracellular polysaccharide production. IS492 generates 5-bp DR upon transposition, as demonstrated by sequencing in the eps gene (Bartlett and Silverman, 1989).
