IS1326 has apparently mediated adjacent deletions in various integrons (In0, In5) generating defective transposons derivatives. IstA contains an unusual D, D(45), E motif and an HTH motif, whereas IstB has a distinctive set of NTP-binding domains (Brown et al., 1996). The two ORF overlap by 14 nt (4 aa).
