In Enterococcus faecalis CH19, the chromosomal beta-lactamase gene is located ca. 600 bp downstream of an IS256 copy (IS256E), and upstream of an iso-ISS1W (95.5 % identity on 133 aa), named here ISS1Y, that has partially been sequenced (Rice and Marshall, 1994). ISS1Y transposase is 95.5 % identical to that of IS1216.
