IS1016C is 70 % identical to IS1016V6 (67 % aa). The presence of IS1016C (renamed IS1016N) has also been reported by Hilse et al. (1996): the left IR of this element was one of the preferred target of the IS5 family member IS1301. IS1016V6 and IS1016C putative transposases are 68 % identical.
