There are 2 copies of ISPpu11 in this strain. ISPpu11 is 53% aa similar to IS1111C.
The IR of this IS are not at its termini. In the IS sequence as given 6 nt separate IRl from the left-hand end of the element and 3 nt separate IRr from the right-hand end. The first residue of the sequence may in fact belong as the final residue, giving 5 nt on the left and 4 on the right.

There are two copies of ISPpu11 in Pseudomonas putida KT2440. In the copy in AE016775, 25 bp including IRr are duplicated. In the copy in AE016787, ISPpu14 is inserted between the end of the ISPpu11 transposase and IRr.

The transposase protein is 36% identical to that of IS1111.

By analogy with IS4321, IS1618 may exist in a circular form in which a -10 region created by the abutted terminal sequences and a -35 region located just inside the right-hand end of the element are correctly spaced to form a promoter.
