Homologies between the last 77 aa of the putative ISSf1 transposase and those of other transposable elements (45 % identity with that of IS12528) have been observed by Laine et al. (1994). ISSf1 is located just upstream (about 15 bp) of the catIII gene, and the promoter of this gene is probably provided by the right end of ISSf1.
