ISPsp1 is located 229 bp upstream of the pheB structural gene (catechol 1, 2-dioxygenase). There are most probably 2 or 3 sequencing errors in the second part of the ORF; the "new" ORF results from the fusion between (74-775), (775-891) and (891-1043). The limits of ISPsp1 (including the IR and DR) have been deduced by analogy with IS5. ISPsp1 is closely related to IS52 (60 % identity for their transposases).
