ISBs1 is interrupting the glgB (glycogen branching enzyme) gene in strain CU21 of Bacillus stearothermophilus (Kiel et al., 1993). A fusion between the two ORFs (103-449 and 449-976) is considered here. This fusion is simply based on the homology with the IS982 transposase (Yu et al., 1995). This suggestion remains to be confirmed. As for IS982, the limits of ISBs1 were deduced from comparison between all the IS982 family members.
