No DR was identified in this element. Eight copies of ISLxc3 were sequenced, but no direct repeat was found in any of them. It is possible to speculate that the three first nucleotides of 5' IR (CTT) and the three first nucleotides of 3' IR (GGC (reverse complement of GCC)) are actually not part of IR, since they are not complementary. The sequence CTTGCC might be part of the host genome and be recognized as the target site for IS insertion, but none experimental analysis was carried out.
