ISBce4 is 95% aa similar to ISBth5. ISBce4 has been found by screening completely sequenced bacterial genomes for sequences homologous to the IS4 transposase using BLASTP. Multiple alignments revealed a conserved DDE motif : D(N2)-70-D(N3)-150-E(C1). In addition to the transposase gene, ISBce4 harbors a beta-lactamase resistance determinant. The copy number of ISBce4 in Bacillus cereus E33L (plasmid pE33L466) is 1.
