Multiple sequence alignments revealed a conserved DDE motif : D(N2)-99-D(N3)-120-E(C1). The copy number in the Streptomyces avermitilis MA-4680 chromosome is 1.
The transposase upstream region harbors 3 ORFs. One shows 87 % aa similarity with a PemK-like protein. PemK is a growth inhibitor in E. Coli known to bind to the promoter region of the Pem operon, auto-regulating synthesis. This Pfam family consists of the PemK protein in addition to ChpA, ChpB and other PemK-like proteins.
