ISRba4 is 48% aa similar to ISRso17. ISRba4 was found by screening completely sequenced genomes for sequences homologous to the IS701 transposase using BLASTP. Multiple sequence alignments revealed a conserved DDE motif : D(N2)-99-D(N3)-155-E(C1). The copy number on the Rhodopirellula baltica SH 1 chromosome is 10.
