ISCku3 is 46% aa similar to IS186B. ISCku3 was found by screening completely sequenced genomes for sequences homologous to the ISPa12 transposase using BLASTP. Multiple sequence alignments revealed a conserved DDE motif : D(N2)-57-D(N3)-138-E(C1). The copy number on the Blastopirellula marina DSM 3645 chromosome is 10. The present IS is located on chromosome fragment 3. Some copies lie on chromosome fragment 4 (Accession: CT573072) or 5 (CT573071).
