Originally named ISPsy17, although in the paper reporting the genome sequence of strain 1448A is referred to as ISPsy18. There are 48 intact copies of the element in the 1448A genome, of which only 24 show a perfect 6 to 8 nt direct repeat; all the repeats are different.
ISPsy17 is 85% aa similar to ISRso7.
